adv.(副词)
no用作副词可表示拒绝或否定的回答,表示“不,不是”。
no作“毫不,一点儿也不”解时,常用于修饰形容词或副词的比较级形式,表示相反的意思; no还可用于表示惊奇或发生不幸时发出的惨呼。
在回答否定疑问句时, no应与后面的意思一致。
adj.(形容词)
no用作形容词表示“没有的”时,与可数名词的单数或不可数名词连用,谓语动词用单数,与可数名词的复数连用时,谓语动词用复数; 也可表示某事被禁止,即“不许的,不可的”。还可表示与所说的事截然不同。
no的意思相当于not a/an或not any,因此其后不能再加a,an, 其前不能加the, my, this或that等限定词。
no用在动词have及there be之后,表示一般的否定,若加在be之后,则表示“绝非,绝不”。
no用在省略句中,作“不许,反对,禁止”解,常用在通告牌上说明不允许做某事。no such sth 的意思是“没有那样的…”,在这种用法中sth 前不能加冠词。

1.none既可指人,又可指物,可用单数,又可用复数; no one只可指人,且只能用于单数。
2.表达否定时, none比no one委婉。
no后常接名词,往往用于句子的开头,强调普遍否定意义; none常与of连用,加在that, the, your, them等词前面,常用于句子的开头,强调一定范围内的否定意义。
no matter how, but, however, how ever
1.however是一个词, how ever是两个词,其中第二个词ever起加强语气的作用。
2.however和no matter how的意思都是“不管…怎样”,但前者为书面语; 后者多用于口语。
3.but和however用作连词时,都可以连接两个相反的观念和事物,但but所表示的是非常明显的对比,其连接部分必须是两个并列对等的成分; however是正式的用语,通常连接两个句子或作插入语用,是将后者和前者加以比较从而看出后者和前者意思相反。
这两个词均可表示否定“不、没有”之意。
:no用作形容词时一般直接置于名词之前，no修饰名词时，语气强于not。
:not名词前有a, any, much, enough等限定词时，不可用no，应用否定副词not。
☆ 13世纪初期进入英语，直接源自古英语的na，意为不。
