  Foreign Languages Department was established in 2003, with 25 qualified faculty members. FLD undertakes the English teaching tusk for both the full-time students and Open-Education students from all majors, and PET and CET/Oral Test in RIZHAO Municipality as well. FLD consists of two majors, ie, English Education and Foreign Trade English. Since establishment, FLD has witnessed considerable progress and prominent achievements in many respects, such as disciplinary construction, teaching management, faculty members’ cultivation and students’ management, etc. Especially, its successive NO. 1 status in senior university entrance exam for 2-year community college students win recognition from the whole society.  The didactical guideline is to promote students’ comprehensive language abilities, especially the cultivation and enhancement in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating skills. FLD adheres to the golden rule of “student-centered” in the adoptions of teaching contents and teaching methods and launch large-scaled extra-curricular activities in order to expose students into an English environment and offer them as much drill practice as possible. Considering its disciplinary characteristics, FLD pays much attention to students’ self-improvement. The graduates from FLD, no matter in teaching post or in higher institutes for graduate degree, pure pronunciation and idiomatic oral English have been appraised as their common characteristics. In order to increase the teaching quality and academic achievements, FLD gives more and more emphasis to the academic cooperation. And FLD invites many famous experts and scholars, home and abroad, to give lectures and reports regularly and as guest teaching staff as well. This proves helpful and rewarding in widening students’ horizon and boosting their interests.     To lay a sturdy language foundation and to increase students’ to pay critical attention to the cultivation of students’ practical skills in order to meet the challenge of upgrading from junior college to senior university and compete for posts in the future respectively.    The organization of classes follows the guideline of “student-centered”, and most teaching staffs adopt the interactive teaching method and give various communicative activities, such as: organizing discussion arou playing games, making dialogues, panel discussion and debate with the words or phras encouraging students’ active participation during class and cultivating their practical language skills via the employment of AV materials.  FLD pays much attention to second class activities and tries its best to help students create an English environment, such as: setting up a readers’ club and making English materials within students’ giving instructions on how to listen to the frequency modulation programs, VOA, BBC, CRI encouraging students to take part in English lectures, English corners, English contests, English parties and English songs competitions, etc that are sponsored by FLD; instructing students to utilize the direct broadcasting classroom programs from Central TV University and other TV universities at provincial and municipal levels and other abundant online resources for the sake of their English study.     TV universities implement the principle of “division between teaching and evaluation”. CTVU and other provincial TVUs are responsible for the making and marking of test papers. But students’ workday performance amount to 30% of their final scores, based on their class attendance, class participation, and their assignments. This part of evaluation is in the charge of each tutoring teacher and this is favorable and fair for the average workday performance management.     Passing on good heritage and making reciprocal groups.    FLD tries its best to optimize and update the curriculum design and opens up translation, AV class, and 21st Century College English besides the required courses stipulated by higher educational authorities. FLD takes the initiative to set up its own internship base to materialize all the practical sectors for English majors.

This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown on include approximately 750 chemicals since it was first published in 1987.Proposition 65 requires businesses to notify Californians about significant amounts of chemicals in the products they purchase, in their homes or workplace, or that are released into the environment. By providing this information, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about protecting themselves from exposure to these chemicals. Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemical into sources of drinking water.The Office of environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program. OEHHA, which is part of the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA), also evaluates all currently available scientific information on substances considered for placement on the Proposition 65 list.What types of chemicals are on the Proposition 65 list? The list contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals that are known to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals include additives or ingredients in pesticides, common household products, food drugs, dyes, or solvents. Listed chemicals may also be used in manufacturing and construction, or they may be byproducts of chemical processes, such as motor vehicle exhaust.How is a added to the list?There are three principal ways for a chemical to be added to the Proposition 65 list. A chemical can be listed if either of two independent committees of scientists and health professionals finds that the chemical has been clearly shown to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. These two committees – the Carcinogen IdentificationCommittee (CIC) and the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant (DART) Identification Committee are – are part of OEHHA’s Science Advisory Board.The committee members are appointed by the Governor and are designated as the “State’s Qualified Experts” for evaluating chemicals under Proposition 65.When determining whether a chemical should be place on the list, the committees base their decisions on the most current scientific information available. OEHHA staff scientists compile all relevant scientific evidence on various chemicals for the committees to review. The committees also consider comments from the public before making their decisions.
