按传统观念，一个股票的投资价值是由上市公司的基本面决定的。因此，如果某股业绩优良，成长性好，出现(上市公司)价值高于(二级市场)价格的现象时，该股票就有了投资价值。除了从基本面可以分析出该股票有无投资价值外，还可以从其他几个方面(与上市公司基本面无关)能够分析出它有无投资价值：
第一，小盘低价股是沪深股市中最具有股票投资价值的一个板块。它给股东带来的投资收益要比因公司基本面趋好带来的投资收益高得多。在沪深股市中有很多企业自股票上市以来20多年中，股价涨了成百上千倍，但查查其历年来公司的经营状况，并无什么突出表现。
第二，具有政策支持的具有较高的价值。无论是什么股票，只要受到政策的支持，它就会显现出股票投资价值。政策扶持的力度越大，股票投资价值就越大。
第三，诞生于经济发达地区和经济活跃地区的股票也具有较大的投资价值。从沪深股市历年的资料统计中发现，上海、北京、深圳。海南等地股票的价格，比其他地区同类质地的股票的价格要高出一截。其中，上海本地股表现得特别明显。这就告诉我们，在分析股票的投资价值时，要看它的出生地，出生地好，股票内在价值就高一些，反之就会低一些。这正如买房要看地段一样，地段好的房子价格高，地段差的房子价格低，两者之间的道理是一样的。
